President & CTO
As President and Co-Founder, Jay is instrumental in defining the company's strategy and vision, and providing the tactical leadership to execute upon it. As CTO, Jay acts as the company's Product/Software Architect and all around technical guru. Jay's natural ability to take ideas from concept to industry leading solutions has been integral to the success of GCS.
Jay has deep expertise in the telecommunications industry since he started his telecom carreer in 1996 as a founding employee of ITXC, the world's first and largest VoIP international carrier. As Senior VP of Operations and Engineering, Jay was at the forefront of global migration from Legacy TDM to NextGen networks. Jay's early successes paved the way for all the VoIP networks and providers to follow. ITXC grew from a startup company where he was employee number 17 to the world's largest VoIP international carrier. Jay is named on many of the ITXC patents like Patent #US7212622 B2. In 1999, Jay was part of the management team which took ITXC public and Jay was a key player in the Teleglobe acquisition of ITXC in 2004.
Post ITXC, Jay's experience included VP of Operations & Engineering for the VoIP Services group at Transaction Network Services (TNS) and SVP of Engineering and Operations for Infini-Route Networks. At Infini-Route, Jay and his team built and managed outsourced VoIP solutions for carriers such as Sprint, AT&T, BT and Telefonica.
Jay is a proud father of two daughters and one son and has been happily married since 1993. His eldest daughter now attends Jay's and his wife's alma mater. In his free time, when Jay is not watching gymnastics competitions, pole vaulting meets, ice hockey, soccer or lacrosse games, Jay enjoys running, biking, swimming, skiing...pretty much anything outdoors! Jay also likes spending time with his family at his lake house; kayaking, hiking and sitting by the fire. He is an avid Yankees, Giants and NJ Devils fan and must have all the latest techno-gadgets.
